cat planet 2

cat planet 2 is a very real, unreleased video game by sylvie and a sequel to cat planet (2009). It was first announced in December 2019.¹⁾ Due to the realities of game development and the human condition, it has not yet seen the light of day.

On December 13th 2019, sylvie celebrated the 10th anniversary of cat planet by announcing a sequel.²⁾ However, she wished to temper expectations, saying:

i did just announce there's a cat planet sequel in the works but i don't
want people to get excited, in fact i want expectations to be as low as possible. […]³⁾

Later on the 28th, sylvie nailed down a 2020 release window for the game.⁴⁾

While helping someone with dynamically laying out multiple textboxes, sylvie showed how she solved this in one of her projects, which appears to be cat planet 2.⁵⁾

A few things can be gleaned from the video:

Cats have an animation that makes them bounce much more prominently than the original, and there's at least two different animations. Cats still turn to face the player.

Environmental decor is present, in a similar fashion to the fangame super cat planet.

A patterned level background can be seen, much different from cat planet's flat backgrounds.

The angel has shiny dark-purple hair, and is dark-skinned. It could be speculated that color customization is present (like the dye shop in super cat planet).
